deadswitch... solid, somber, to the point metal.
Why this name?
the name deadswitch came about as we were switching gears from our old sound of what we called "lite metal"... our new direction focuses on the sound & mood of all the great death metal bands that we love. so to us, deadswitch is exactly that... a dead switch.
Do you play live?
we have nothing on our plate right now. currently we're working on a 5 song EP that should be out sometime in august 2005. our plans after that include the completion of a full length album & possible tour.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
the internet allows anyone (like us!) to share their music with the world. sure, we want to get paid for this music stuff, but at this point just knowing that someone is listening is the most important thing. also, on the piracy matter: in my own personal use, the internet serves as a gateway to new sounds & music... if i hear something that i like, i'll go out & buy it... it's just that simple. buying music = more new music.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
hells yes.
Band History:
tony & i (andy) have been writing songs together since the summer of 2000. we've played in a lot of bands together & met a lot of great people along the way. our past bands include the likes of linchpin, unsound, obsolete & silent mistress.
in mid june 2005 keyboardist matt kidson joined us, helping further develop what has become our trademark sound.
deadswitch is currently just the three of us locked away in a small studio working on the music that we love. we've gone back to our roots & couldn't be more happy.
Your influences?
six feet under, black sabbath, type o negative, megadeth, metallica, cradle of filth, kiss, motley crue, pantera, iron maiden, godsmack, kittie..........
Favorite spot?
our studio.
Equipment used:
korg keyboards, washburn guitars, barracuda basses, randall & yorkville amplifacation, digitech & zoom effects... & some other crap.
Anything else...?
our life (so far) on internet radio has been amazing!!! thanks so much to aiiradio for playing us! we've been on the top ten there for some time & here's hoping for a lot more success. also, soundclick has opened up more possibilities for us than we ever could have dreamed of... "name of desire" spent 3 months in the top 100 & right now "dark days ahead" is burning up the charts!
