Music has always been a form of expression and an outlet for all my feelings and emotions. By composing, I can capture the mood I am in by way of song. I use the music to inspire me, to relieve me and to share with others my world. I started playing music at a very early age, and performed live on stage before I even graduated elementary school. I come from a rich heritage and a musical family grounded in Christian belief. It has been this influence that my music was created.
Why this name?
rotcav is a name I came up with in 1996 while still in high school. At the time I was taking German classes, so I decided to give birth to my online identity. Rotcav basically stands for red cavalier, which is my car. Anytime you see the word rotcav, it can only mean one person, me.
Do you play live?
I have played live before, and it's very hard getting the studio sound and feel in a live setting. I performed in November 2003 at the Appalshop Theater stage in Whitesburg, KY. It was interesting, and I managed to record my entire live performance.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I know beyond a shadow of doubt that mp3 has revolutionized the way underground artists like myself can get the music out there. It gives us creative freedom, a voice and a chance for the world to listen in.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Probably not. For me it's not about the money, just composing and my music satisfies me.
Your influences?
Bassic, Vangelis, Yanni, Delerium, Tangerine Dream, Blue Man Group, Enigma, Enya, Insphire, Ryan Farish, Pink Floyd, Peter Gabriel and Venus Hum to name a few.
