An Apologetic (See Pascal's Wager)
While working this chord progression, I started thinking on Pascal's Wager. On how he explained so simply and succinctly the choice we all face; is there a God or not. He left no room for agnosticism, because this life is already in progress... Like a ship at sea, you eventually have to port (i.e. make a decision). A roll of the dice, a play of the card, a decision made, a chance taken. Then death comes to us all, no amount floundering about can halt the tic-tock of time.
If the Atheist is correct, then he won’t be able to say “I told you so”, because (in his mind)there is a great nothingness after this life (the brain, and everything else for that matter, being nothing more but matter in motion after all). But if the Christian is correct, he will have done everything he can to warn the Atheist. What do you have to lose, and (more importantly) what do you have to gain….
A Roll Of The Dice ( A Frenchman’s Wager)
You roll the bones and take your chances
Because you know this life ain’t free
The dice of life are full of whispers
Like dancing smoke filled fleeting dreams
A roll of the dice
It’s Pascal colored explanations
Of happenchance and gamblers needs
Will you choose the right 50/50
Or rue this day eternally
A roll of the dice
You spin the wheel, secure in your stances
But like a boat still out at sea
You have to harbor to get the answer
But in the end, I guess we’ll all see
A roll of the dice
