The Assbutts
NEWS   As promised, I just uploaded a bunch of songs recorded with the band. Expect more of these soon, as well as more recordings of the fake band (Paulo Assbutt playing all the instruments). I labeled the ones with the whole band "The Assbutts" so you know what you're getting yourself into.

Poppy melodies with a punk rock attitude on top of grooving reggae rhythms that will make you want to move your ass, and probably your butt, too.
Why this name?
I didn't want to sound pretentious or put much time into thinking of a name, so I released a few recordings under the name "The Assbutts" and it stuck, even when it became a real band. I like it.
Do you play live?
We've been playing locally in the Ann Arbor, MI, area and it's f***ing great. The best thing in the world is when people we don't know start dancing as soon as we start playing.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The music industry as we know it will die, and once again musicians will control music.
Band History:
I was farting around with my 8-track, playing punk rock classics by the likes of The Queers and The Ramones, but substituting a reggae "chinka chinka" guitar rhythm for the traditional powerchords. It was mostly an excuse for me to make up reggae basslines. At some point I realized that all of my favorite songs were pretty similar, and that I may as well write my own songs, especially if the songs were just an excuse to lay down some grooves. I wrote and recorded a bunch of songs on my own, playing all the instruments myself and pretending I was a band. I had been doing this for a while when I asked my roommate to lay down some keyboard parts for me. This somehow lead to The Assbutts transforming from a fake band into a real band and subsequently taking the whole goddamn world by storm, making everyone dance likes fools.
