Wicked Grin are a new amalgamation of experienced blues players steadily building their reputation around the East Coast of England. Their live show reveals a confidence and ability to boogie on down with the best of them, with powerful vocals being liberally inter-laced with stinging guitars. Whether your preference is for smooth swing grooves or modern urban blues, this band can deliver the goods! It is clear that experience counts, and the two guitar players have bags of that for they were both originally part of the British Blues scene in the late 1960’s. John Adams has supported many blues performers including Duster Bennett, Bryan Knight and Phil Guy. He formed and fronted the highly successful Lacey Street Blues Band in the 1980's and features on their successful Red Lightning release "Blues in the Night". Paul Gill who shares the guitar duties, has played alongside Alexis Korner, Juke Boy Bonner, Champion Jack Dupree, Arthur ‘Big Boy’ Crudup and Dick Heckstall-Smith. Broadcasts include: Mike Raven Blues Show; Blues is where you hear it; Alexis Korner’s R&B Show; BBC Suffolk Blues; BBC Suffolk Arts and Anglia Television ‘Wide Angle. In July 2000 Blues Revue Magazine described his playing as “immensely tasteful, succinct and restrained”. The engine room of Wicked Grin is oiled by the superb partnership of Tony Mowles (bass) and Ed Croney (drums). Their playing is so tight and rhythmical that it inevitably sets your heart thumping and your feet dancing. Tony has played the blues for many years with Cruiser, The John Harrington Blues Band and ’56 Cadillac.
