As a young child growing up in Southern California, Danye has always had a love and ear for music. While listening to as much music as he could get his hands on, he also had a talent to learn every instrument he picked up. He finally settled on learning the piano, by ear. As He grew he developed an ear for talent and embarked on a quest to only listen to music with a message. This led him to his main influences which include Stevie Wonder, Gil Scott-Heron, Bob Marley, Public Enemy, and other such artists. Also being raised to learn, investigate, and understand Danye began to study all aspects of music. His passion for music getting stronger he began to rap about his experiences and battle while in high school. Everyone noticed and responded well to his progressive hip hop style. He would go into college and begin to get serious with his hip hop career. In response to the reaction of his peers he would end up with the name D.O.P.E. Man (Definition of Perfect Elevation). In the middle of a conversation Chuck D. himself would ask what his rap name was, and in response to D.O.P.E. Man Chuck answered, Oh your name stands for definition of public enemy. Danye would assume this moniker and welcome all the controversy with it. Throughout the years danye would record and perform with various locals artist and have several ups and downs, and developed a quality control team of producers called the Turn Up Productions Music Group. These individuals are dedicated to making the best music possible in every project. With this mantality, yet again, he would continue to evolve as an artist and began to push his career harder and harder. The reoccurring theme of his music and style was said to be that of a mobster with the motto everybody eats from the movie Paid in Full. Danye would use this angle to further his message of turning up and, being inspired by the constant misspelling of Danye as Donye, added the name Don Ye to his epithet. Over the last couple of years Don Ye has been out in the bay area attending San Jose State University while perfecting his style and broadening his awareness and lyrical content. In 2011 all of the work paid off. After opening up for Big Sean and several feature performances, Don Ye is gaining momentum. Ready to take on the world and continue to spread the truth through music, Don Ye is dedicated to bringing you THE BEST PRODUCT OUT HERE.
