DC F.A.M. The close-knit family of two emcees (Real Wil & 3rd Degree), born and bread in East Somerville, Massachusetts formed the group now called DC F.A.M. In high school, recording their first tracks in DJ Stix's amateur style studio humorously called “Hip Hop the Bedroom.” DC FAM was raised together from the early 90’s, the era of real hip hop, where an artists’ creativity was put on display through wordplay and lyrical content. It was this era, along with the streets of Somerville that heavily influenced their style as a group and identities as artists. Both rappers strive daily for positive growth within their music as well as their day to day grind. With the love of family and good music being their driving force it was one member in particular (Real Wil) who formulated the group. Having been faced with the tragic pain of being orphaned at the age of 7, Wil’s drive derives from his appreciation of family and desire to be great in anything he does. It is this determination and dedication that has helped all of them achieve the recognition they have attained in Boston and throughout New England. Their respect and admiration for each other’s ability, individualism, and versatility bleeds throughout their music. DC FAM’s love for rap music and Hip Hop culture as well as the fulfillment that comes from the creative expression of creating good music lead them to independently release four projects: “Afraid of the Dark” (2006), “Money up Front - the sampler” (2007), and full length album “Money up Front” (2008), "40 Flows For The Fcuk Of It"(2009). “You can’t deny a good show, no matter how many people come”, said Real Wil prior to DC FAM’s first show as a group. This concept resonates throughout each members’ head in everything they do, from writing a chorus, to recording ad libs, to holding a microphone on stage. With the suede, talent, and camaraderie that most groups lack, DC FAM is destined to leave a huge mark on the music industry, because “Once we get our feet in the door, we’re kicking it in.” ..
