very "tongue in cheek," with apologies to David Rovics...David, I didn't realize when I was titling this that you already had a song with the same title. I console myself with knowing that it must be a very good title.

I've been making music in one form or another for more than 50 years. Former member of folk duo "Merlynn" (1977-1981) formed by myself and college roommate John Oglesby. Also a 20-year veteran of former popular folk group "The Lite Side" (1990-2010) with Mary Beaman, Keith Bailey and formerly Mary Dahl. We had the good fortune during those years to open for "The Kingston Trio" at the Carlisle Theatre, and also appeared several times at The White House. Sang through the 80's with my sister, Liz, first as "Merlyn & Morgana" and later with a lap steel player and bassist as "Dragon Country".
This is kind of covered under the introduction.
All things considered it beats playing dead. I've played live quite a bit over the years, but primarily within the context of a band for the past 20 years. I really enjoy the interaction with the audience, particularly if they're having a good time. You get this energy cycle going where you're putting out and they're getting off on that, and their waves come back to you and make you higher. It just keeps going round and round.
Too many to get into, and I don't think I really sound like any of them anyway. Somebody did once tell me at a show that I sounded like Gordon Lightfoot (I don't), but that was many a year gone by.
Shure mics, a Fostex digital 8-track unit, and a PC running WinXP with Audacity installed. Guitar is currently a fairly inexpensive Washburn, banjo is a museum piece that belonged to my grandfather when he was in college. Cheap harmonicas in various keys, some Clarke tin whistles, a recorder, and a drum I made from a hollow log, a section of deer hide and upholstery tacks. Oh, and occasionally a lap dulcimer.
Listen to my songs frequently enough and I promise you'll never suffer from tinnitus. Provided, of course, that you wear earplugs at all other times.
