Story behind the song
The core theme was a sequence of 6 notes played against the same 6 notes plus one additional note. This 6-against-7 pattern provides a trance-like repetitive pattern, but also generates a variety of small harmonic variations across the 42 beat cycle. The structure of the piece is based on 3 sections, each with a central chord played in bass register. Other parts were based on applications of "developing variations" from the last AAD, including a melody with variations and a "circulation" where three guitars play on the 1 (of 4 beats), 2 (of 5 beats), and 3 (of 6 beats). The recording was done with my ovation plugged directly to a multitrack recording software on my laptop. A small amount of reverb was added to the final mix.
The piece is from 15th February 2011 entitled "Nighttime Delerium."
