Muddy Masks of Decay - Bing on Keyboard
Shinola For Brains was created to give hope and to shine light where there had been murkiness. With "The Wars all Stop", its lyric was in a way meant to offend but few people, and to offer hope to everybody else.
Shinola For Brains are two brothers who have fought for most of our lives, so we pretty much know, at this point, not to.
Neither of us want that.
We both
Story behind the song
"The Country's Falling Apart" is looking at the country geographically. Now, to speak of the song, "Muddy Masks Of Decay".This song is dated back to 1989, and was recorded in a brief visit Bing Aldworth made to Lincoln, Maine, where I (Joe Aldworth) was living. The 12 string lead guitar was played by Mark Guzzard.
Lyrics
Walking down the muddy masks of decay,
Walkin' down the street, the street, one day
I was scared by what I saw in the past
I noticed all the things that had left my grasp
Wond'rin' where I'm gonna land when I fall
Wonderin' what I'm gonna do with it all
No-one can see the things I think I can see
Everybody tells me how to live, but they don't even know me
The brown leaves fall when some are still red and green
You might some day see what I've just seen
If you do I hope you can be brave
And walk with God and do the masquerade
It's hard to live when you're living a rhyme
Coming back may take a little time
It's hard to plant yourself when you don't know if you'll grow
The buds growing in spring-time let you know
[Aside from the obnoxiousness of line seven, line 10, 11, and 12, and a few other lines, this song is a calliope of metaphorical musical phrases. Okay, yeah. I'm starting to totally lie and bullshit, so I'd better shut up now. As always, thank you for your time, and the energy, if any, that you had to expel to listen to our music.]
