Artist picture
Singer-songwriter, arranger and producer: acoustic contemporary folk but ranging into rock/blues/country/jazz/humour...all very eclectic, I'm afraid!
Martin Stirrup Singer/songwriter An old folkie who got back into it... These days I sing and play guitar(s) and other stringed instruments, then score and orchestrate where appropriate. My taste becomes increasingly eclectic ranging from finger-picked folk through country to soft rock mixed in with a few more alternative and eccentric numbers, including the odd novelty foxtrot...

Story behind the song
Written in Munsyari in Uttarakhand at about 3000m with views north to the 6-7000m snowy peaks, We went for a long walk under clear blue skies but just got back to Mr Kumar’s waiting car before the heavens opened and drove back down to town through torrential rain followed by snow. The storm raged for a few hours then the sun came out again on some magical mountain views.

HBD 07 Mountains have moodsUK Mountains have moods You have to conclude After watching them change from day to day Mountains have moods They smile or they brood You'll have to arrange your plans around them anyway One day at a time she's a fine but distant beauty Proud and haughtyInfallible See her rise through blue skies The pure ice maiden Distances fadingUnattainable When she's warm she will wrap you in contentment No resentment At your captivity Meadows green fragrant flowers fill your senses Mended fences Pen you happily Mountains have moods Subtle or crude Catching you out off of your guard Mountains have moods Friendly or rude Without a doubt you’ll take it hard But sudden change can rearrange your perception Self deception Is blown away Raging storm becomes the norm, sends you reeling Helpless feelingsCloud the day Chorus|A|Bm|G|D| |A|Bm|G|D|A| Verse|F#m|G|A|A| |Em|Ems2|G|A| |F#m|G|A|A| |Em|Ems2|G|A|
