Story behind the song
I wrote this song a little over 30 years ago in the backyard of the house we lived in, on Chester Rd in Chester, VA. I was sitting on a split log bench near our fire pit. It was a beautiful spring day. The idea came from seeing the rays of sunshine coming through a window in the house. I grabbed my guitar, pencil and paper, and went out back. My friends Bob Brick and Howard Powlesson helped me to polish it up. I re-recorded this song as part of a project I am calling Past Forward. The first recording I made of it, made on a Yamaha MT100 4 track cassette tape recorder, was too harsh and the temp was too fast. I like this version much better. Unfortunately, my singing has gotten any better. I really like the spring season. Hope you enjoy
