Singer-songwriter, arranger and producer: acoustic contemporary folk but ranging into rock/blues/country/jazz/humour...all very eclectic, I'm afraid!
Martin Stirrup Singer/songwriter An old folkie who got back into it... These days I sing and play guitar(s) and other stringed instruments, then score and orchestrate where appropriate. My taste becomes increasingly eclectic ranging from finger-picked folk through country to soft rock mixed in with a few more alternative and eccentric numbers, including the odd novelty foxtrot...

Story behind the song
I wrote the lyric after walking along a wild and windy beach in Donegal - the mournful tone picked up from the mournful weather!
Lyrics
BL 02 wild on the coast intro: Am C GAm C GFF Am CG DDm AmEm D Am CG DDm AmG Am CDAm CDmDm It's wild on the coast and the winds heavy duty But you can't knock the beauty As the tide recedes I think of you the most When I'm out here and walking Imagining you talking And thinking where it leads I keep coming back to the zone It makes me feel less alone I lie to myself That were still together Discussing the weather Shooting the breeze It's good for my health Keeping me upbeat Who needs the concrete When living the fantasies It's the reality That brought me to my knees FCGAm FCB BbAA How long can I keep up this pretense With all my confidence decayed Ignorance is never a defense When will your spectre start to fade It's wild on the coast and the winds getting colder And I'm feeling older sinking fast I think of you most More than anything really And I'd dearly be back in the past I'd dearly be back in the past

The melody certainly has an Irish lilt. And one certainly overs a sense of loneliness from the lyrics. Pretty clever track.
