Story behind the song
A simple song about musical heroes no longer with us. Took me around 90 minutes to write and record. Thanks to Rich Teague and Tommy Willis for the adding the wonderful Lead Guitars.
Lyrics
It was raining on the night that Elvis died A blessed relief, but the people cried He wasna??t the man that he used to be Still the King but not the top of the tree I couldna??t believe he was outta my life How on earth would the music survive? But I pray to the king of rock and roll Cos he saved my life and he surely saved my soul Buddy left the world, it was hard to take No more rock and roll, or rattle and shake The notes had gone, the chords had fled The people thinking that wea??re better off dead But we carry on dancing to eternal beats The heart of the world, the sound of the streets So pray to the heroes of rock and roll Cos they saved your life and theya??ll surely save your soul
