The Storm

Pulled from my arsenal of guitar idea recordings. This tune evokes the image of the calm before and then, the storm and the calming afterward. Finger-style rhythm behind a flat-pick lead.

Fremont John plays Taylor acoustic guitars. Check out his CDs Timeline, Acoustic Thunder and Lightning Strikes the Bull. For fans of ,
A strong, versatile voice (think Jonny Lang or, Rob Thomas) and very clean, melodic guitar style (think acoustic Santana meets Craig Chaquico ) are Fremont's magic . Whether an original work or a cover song, John makes it his own. His style and killer sound make him a standout in a crowded field.

Story behind the song
This tune, like many of the others, was written during the course of recording. I had the finger-style rhythm part recorded in my demo arsenal. I then finished the form of the tune before adding the lead. This was the way on so many of the songs on GUITAR SONGS. This is pretty much a guitar duet but a 3rd guitar is added for the middle section. No other instrumentation is present.
