Spoken Word

Philadelphia’s own Quiet Rage stormed onto the spoken word scene in 2004, and has taken spoken word poetry to a new level. Quiet Rage is comprised of two spit fire poets, Damai and Vision, who are known for their originality, and in your face approach to issue most people choose to skate around. Most people compare them to Outkast musically since they do their poetry to many different types of beats including up tempo hip hop, slow jazzy, and powerful rock beats.

Band/artist history

We (Damali and Vision) knew each other from doing the open mic circuits in Philadelphia. Both of us were known for our in your face lyrical styles of tackling social and political issues, as well as trying to take our message, and performance to a higher level. We both have the same drive and ambition so it only made sense to join forces. We mesh so well lyrically.

Have you performed in front of an audience?

We perform mostly in the United States on the East Coast. We are presently attempting to find venues in Europe or Asia who would be interested in booking us. We absolutely love performing because the rush is a fantastic high. The combination of performing, and getting a message out to people is a phenomenal feeling.

Your musical influences

Damali - Quincy Jones, Prince, Gil Scott Heron, KRS-1, Smokey Robinson

Vision - Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Wonder, Tribe Called Quest, Big Daddy Kane, The Roots

Anything else?

It’s time to put the art back into music, and take it out of the cliche spewing artists who have been in the headlines for too long.
