Band/artist history
Since the release of their first 7 song E.P. I Give, and their full length record Hate, Ritual has gained critical acclaim worldwide for their music and live performances. Both CD's have received extensive air play and have charted in such countries as Russia, Japan, France, Indonesia, The Netherlands, U.S.A. and Canada. These small town boys from Ontario, Canada, have managed to build an amazing underground buzz. They have been billed as headliners at large, prestigious clubs in Ontario and Quebec. Ritual truly came together on their second release and show promise of becoming a force in the music business, not only in Canada, but worldwide.
Renowned for their live show, Ritual fans are treated to a visual and sonic assault. With their flawless plethora of psychotic lighting and their massive live sound, it's a show that can't be missed. Ritual and the crowd feed off each other until all are pumped into a groove driven frenzy. Ritual is looking forward to a heavy touring schedule in 2000.
No medium has been left unturned as the band has appeared on television shows such as The Tom Green Show. They have also dominated on the internet with top ten placings on MP3.com, Audiogalaxy.com, and of this writing, having their song Circus of Freaks finish fifth overall on Garageband.com's February 2000 $250,000 record deal competition, not a small feat considering that there was over 5000 songs in the competition. Their web site was created by Ritual front man Sean Harley. RitualNet is a world class web site.
In April of 1999 Ritual teamed up with Producer/Engineer Jay Ruston of Distortion Studios in Ottawa Canada. Over a weekend session, the band recorded a three song CD to use as a promotional tool, and to show industry people what direction the band was headed in. The music clearly represents Ritual in their finest form, and is just a taste of what Ritual has to offer on their next full length record which will be released later this year. Ritual has recently showcased at Canadian Music Week 2000.
