Frank Lamphere has been honing his swinging style during his 25 year singing career in the specialized genre nowadays referred to as traditional pop and jazz. A style which he learned or more like "absorbed" from the titans of popular music, aka male vocalists prior to 1970: Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Jack Jones, Buddy Greco, Tony Bennett and others.
Music career highlights include four CDs released, radio and television commercials, steadies at top jazz clubs in Chicago, headlining numerous Rat Pack themed shows across the Midwest, high-profile corporate and private gigs from Las Vegas to New York, even performing in Milan, Italy. He recorded Look Out For Love which opened the 2007 film Osso Bucco. His original song I Never Forgot from his 2012 CD Frank Swings was featured prominently in the award-winning independent film Theresa Is a Mother. Prolific in the recording studio over the last several years, Frank has been utilizing the abundant jazz talent in Chicago and recorded three more albums. His fifteen song Frank Sinatra tribute Frank Songs, My Way could very well shake up the industry when it comes out in mid-2024. Available for musical performance nationwide, with his band.
Band/artist history
Born and raised in the Chicago area, Frank the eldest of four siblings was always a good athlete who played baseball, fought in the 1982 Chicago Golden Gloves, intensely studied foreign languages (French, Italian and Greek), traveled to Europe several times while in his twenties (met his wife Daniela in Rome), worked as a cook, a skilled carpenter, and throughout his youth listened to and sang along with the record albums that he collected.
Frank found many occasions to perform an Elvis or Dean Martin number in public. However, it was not until 1996 that he took his uncanny understanding and great appreciation of the older music from a mere pastime, to a serious career direction. Sitting-in and working with several society bands Frank, quickly developed his vocal style and audience working skills. He gave his presentation the moniker Rat Pack Jazz which Frank describes as Vocal and instrumental renditions of retro-pop and jazz standards, with an emphasis on melody.
As a headlining vocalist Frank, has appeared in shows such as the Tribute to Jimmy Dorsey at the Performing Arts Center at the College of DuPage, A Salute to Ol Blue Eyes at the Egyptian Theater in DeKalb and in January 08 performed a concert at the prestigious Jumpin Jazz Ballroom in Milan, Italy. Lamphere has also held the vocal duties at many of Chicagos top music venues: the Peninsula Hotel, Jillys, Green Dolphin Street, The Flame of Countryside, and Milwaukees Pfister Hotel. Saturdays are usually dedicated to non-club performances like: fundraisers, wedding receptions, corporate events and private parties.
No stranger to the recording studio, Frank has recorded demos, radio commercials and released his own self-produced CD Aint Love A Kick - The Unforgettable Songs of Sammy Cahn in 2002. A songwriter as well, an upcoming CD project will feature his original songs with a jazz combo.
Rat Pack Enterprises L.L.C., Franks musical entertainment company offers his services and the services of other select artists and instrumental jazz groups to the entire U.S. and Europe. Phone (630) 202-4887 with inquiries.
