Where Have You Been All My Life (Merseybeat Style) Where Have You Been All My Life (Merseybeat Style)

I recently heard a version of this song by Arthur Alexander on Lisa Tarbuck's Saturday night radio show on BBC Radio 2. It's a song that most of the 'Merseybeat' bands played at the time...including The Beatles. This is my tribute to them all.

The Taste Of Your Tears The Taste Of Your Tears

I heard this played on the radio recently and it reminded me of what a great hit single it was back in 1985. It brought back good memories. All the young girls in the office thought that Paul King was a real 'Dreamboat'. A perfect Pop single.

If Its Really Got To Be This Way If Its Really Got To Be This Way

I'm not sure what 'genre' this should be in...Pop/Soul/Rhythm & Blues. Well, whatever! this is another great song by Arthur Alexander from later in his career I think.

Major Snagg is the invented name of the 'band' that perform all my own musical creations. (songs and instrumentals). I play guitars, bass, rudimentary keyboards, harmonica, and sing. Melody has always been important to me... lyrics and guitar solos have to say or communicate something. I create musical worlds that I hope that you dear listener, will also want to explore and live in for a few moments...or longer if you feel that way inclined.
Band/artist history
I've been playing since I was 16 (a long time ago now ) This is a necessary outlet for me, as I just can't stop playing and trying out ideas. The learning process just continues . . . The first 'band' I was a member of was;- 'The Dead Popes' . . .Power Pop (1977/8), Drums, Bass, Rhythm guitars (2), Rhythm/lead guitar (me) Aqua Vitae (1979/80), Drums, Bass, keyboard and Guitar (me). Dolce Vita (1980/82) . . ., a proper Indie style pop/rock band. Drums, Bass, Rhythm guitar, Rhythm / lead guitar (me) Silent Network, (1988/90) Electronic/Pop . . .Bass/Keyboards, Vocals, Guitars (me)
Have you performed in front of an audience?
I've been involved in a few bands over the years. All great fun at the time. But no, I don't play 'live' anymore. I sometimes miss it and would love to get a band together again to perform some of my songs and some of covers of my favourite songs by musicians I admire.
Your musical influences
In chronological order...The Beatles, John Mayall, Ten Years After, Be Bop Deluxe, Bill Nelson, XTC, The Flower Kings . . . far too many to list. All good Pop and Rock (and a little bit of experimental music)
What equipment do you use?
I own several very nice guitars. Mostly, but not all, made by Yamaha. My bass guitar of choice is a fire glow Rickenbacker 4003. My recording system is very low tech. but I manage to coax a lot out of it. Enthusiasm, persistence and determination go a long way in helping me achieve what I do. So, the bottom line is that it's not always the guitar you own, it's what you do with it. The guitars that I own are all used in some kind of rotation...that way it justifies me having them. Some of them now sport little battle scars and dents... annoying but that's what you get with using them in a confined space... however they're all in pretty good shape for their age.
Anything else?
Music making (for me) isn't something I can just turn on or off. I'm driven by music and vision. Once an Art student, always an Art student. So the musical and artistic journey goes forever on . . .
