Experimental

We are primarily a working live band and one of the busiest in the area. We enjoy every sort of gig, from private functions in swish hotels to social clubs and from sweaty rock venues to ballroom dances. Our original material reflects this and we write songs and instrumentals that are also very varied in style. All three of us play and sing and we are noted for our harmony work and our instrumental ability. We are an unusual combination - the excitement of being a new and inventive band, with the sure touch that comes only from many years of experience.
Band/artist history
Bright Spark formed after guitarist-singer-songwriter John met bassist-songwriter-singer Heather in a music shop when he had just moved to the area from London and she had just been fired from her previous band. Heather had worked with singer-drummer-songwriter Pete previously so he was head-hunted to complete the band.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
We play one or two gigs together as Bright Spark most weeks, mostly round Norfolk and occasionally Suffolk or further afield, and we love it! We are all working musicians and take gigs or sessions with anybody, so long as they don't clash with Bright Spark's.
Your musical influences
1960s harmony beat groups, Beatles, Kinks, Hollies, 1950s vocal instrumental and pop, Shadows, Everly Brothers, Buddy Holly, rock'n'roll, Eddie Cochran, Chuck Berry, jazz, blues, rock, retro, ballads, and everyone we've ever worked with. In addition to our gigs together as Bright Spark, all of us play with other bands, everything from classical to folk, rock, jazz and blues, so are constantly coming back with new influences and ideas.
What equipment do you use?
Guitar (John has quite a selection), fretless bass and drums, and a PA, of course. Sometimes two PAs, one for vocals and the other to mic up drums and other instruments.
Anything else?
