TIMEA (aka Timea Walker/Timea Szasz) is a Hungarian-born Composer, Singer-Songwriter, Multi-Instrumentalist and Music Producer.
She has hundreds of original pieces of music to her name to date, 40+ of which are featured here. These are some of her older recordings she self-produced throughout the years in a wide range of genres, using various music production equipment.
She composes in a variety of styles ranging from Pop, Folk, Synth and Film Music, to Game & Soundtrack, Beats & Instrumentals, Classical and many more. Some of her pieces are rich in Central and Eastern European elements, while others incorporate musical touches from across the globe.
When it comes to songs, Timea likes to combine pop with traditional Hungarian themes, multiple part vocal harmonies and lyrics inspired by her life events.Band/artist history
TIMEA started playing music by ear, aged just two. In her own words, she didn't have to learn or teach herself any aspects of music, she just knew how it all worked from the beginning. Her hearing, inborn musical abilities, and her level of naturally understanding the audible form of music at such a young age, allowed her to start composing on autopilot, even before her school years.
Her means of composing is complex. This includes musical synaesthesia (sight to feeling to music, where feelings translate as music), lucid dreaming music (bringing original pieces out of her dreams), her hearing abilities (see below), photographic musical memory, and as she calls it, Musical Auditory Reflex (MAR) shes been observing in herself throughout the years. She defines the latter as Hearing music in ones head as an involuntary response to external musical stimuli. She continues: For example, playing a random phrase on a piano, and as an involuntary response, immediately hearing an internal, non-existing, complex piece of music that complements the original external stimulus. This also works with lyrics and in other ways.
And it seems like all the above is spiced with a great deal of creativity!
Timea explains: I dont read music or do theory, I purely rely on the music I hear in my head.
I have Hyperacusis, an auditory hypersensitivity, which enables me to hear things differently. My ears are able to pick up and pay attention to sounds that might be inaudible to others without the condition. As a result, I can hear and separate every instrument and sound in music and audio by listening, and play them back as they are.
TIMEA describes her musical synaesthesia: "Music can appear in my head out of the blue, like as if it was an instant Leitmotif of the present moment. I can then extract this track by track and retain, play, record and expand it into a full piece later on. My synaesthesia can be triggered by external stimuli, like looking at a dramatic sunrise that makes me feel happy, or almost euphoric.
I can also create/produce music on cue to any description and complexity, where all the above would be at play.
Being neurodivergent certainly plays a huge part in how my brain operates and therefore my ability to create music.
As well as music production, some of Timeas other passions lie within the Film and TV Industries. Throughout her career, she worked in the roles of Video Producer, Editor, Filmmaker, Supporting Artist, Special Action Performer and Double, and feels at home in the media environment both in front of and behind the cameras. She appeared in countless Hollywood productions, from Star Wars to James Bond, as well as many other famous UK and worldwide films and TV shows.Your musical influences
Timea's musical influences come from the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's rock, pop, synth-pop and electronic music, as well as folk, classical music and soundtracks (films, cartoons, adverts and video games). She loves creating multiple-part vocal harmonies in her work, as many of her songs demonstrate.
She also likes to incorporate natural and other interesting sounds into her pieces, such as bird songs, objects (e.g. crystal glasses, bottles, vases, or anything that sounds good) and Morse Code.Contact
