Deep in the Florida swamps lurks a beast of unimaginable force and ferocity...those that have seen it and survived called it the SkunkApe.
Blending brute force and melodic aggression SkunkApe dominates the presence of sound as you know it. Grooves deeper than the Lousiana basin, bass bigger than Fat Albert and riffage from the apocolypse come together to form...
Southern Groove Core!!
A culmination of influences that represents a truly distinct sound. Metal, funk and southernindustrialalcoholaggression blend to kick your ass like that dude in high school!Band/artist history
Andy - guitar/vox
Dave - guitar
John - bass/vox
Tommy - drummer
SkunkApe was formed in late 2001. The band was put together at the suggestion of a local radio talk show host, Neil Rogers, who wanted kind of a "mascot" band. Tommy, who works for the station took that suggestion and together with the guitarist from his former band, Curt began putting SkunkApe together. Andy joined and began writing songs followed by John shortly thereafter. After a long and painful search for a singer, Andy decided to take on the job as the lead vocalist until they found one. He has since gotten very comfortable in that position and soon became the full time singer. Curt recently left the band due to personal priorities and Dave was brought in in August, 2003. SkunkApe has played every major (and not so major) clubs in Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties and opened for Twisted Method in 2003.
They have also been one of the headlining bands for the 7th and 8th South Florida Tatoo Conventions, QAM Booze Cruz and not only headlined, but organized and ran the 1st and 2nd Annual 420 Smoke Out shows.
They are currently writing new songs and demo tracks will be recorded in February of 2004 with a tour through Central and North Florida and beyond!Have you performed in front of an audience? We have been playing live in Miami, Ft. Lauderdale and Palm Beach for about a year and a half now.
We love to play live. There is nothing like the adrenaline of seeing all those people singing your songs and moshing in the pit to your music. We feed off of that and it's what makes us want to continue playing whether it's for 50 people or 50,000.
Too many to count really.
Your musical influences
Just about every genre from Skynyrd to Metallica to Stevie Wonder.
We are compared to or told we sound like: Down, Stuck Mojo, Sacred Reich, Rage Against the Machine, GodSmackContact

I really dig your sound. I am from a huge swamp metal area and your stuff is really very good. I feel some roots of COC and some of the other really cool southern metal bands in your music. Keep it up.
have you ever lost a loved one or a friend and wish you had said things to them that you didn't get a chance to. that is what this song is about, a brand new mix of "Ship With No Sail" now up. introducing our newest singer from Mexico, Melissa Menendez. stop by give it a listen and vote it hot and leave a review. lets get this tune to #1 where it belongs. add it to your stations & play it often cause she has definetly brought this song to a whole new level with the emotion of her vocals. thanks alot and enjoy the tune.
