Story behind the song
We should all celebrate diversity rather turning our noses up and looking down on people because of who they are or where they are in life. How quickly we forget from whence we came from. I believe "live and let live" should always be upheld.
Lyrics
DON’T LOOK DOWN
Vs.1 Consider our differences the way that they’re separate, yet in fact we all are all the same. Yea we are….So who am I that I can judge anybody when I must strive to be pure from all blame myself? So I can’t look down…
CHORUS Don’t look down on him who may not have all the things that society might say they need. Instead we oughta celebrate our diversity, make everyone feel like each other we need, we need.
Vs.2 Now what if I don’t do what you do your way? And what if the way we walk and talk are just not the same. What if I come from the South and talk real, real, real loud? And what if you hail from up North and you’re real proud? It shouldn’t matter, no. It’s a mystery; some say it is a tapestry. It brings us all together until we are as one. So put the differences aside, hand in hand we will rise. I’m no better than you are so in my mind I’ve got this thought, I can’t look down….
CHORUS Don’t look down on him who may not have all the things that society might say they need. Instead we oughta celebrate our diversity, make everyone feel like each other we need, we need.
BRIDGE If we all come together, build a plan that everyone can meditate on and focus on. Can’t we live in peace and sweet harmony the way it was supposed to be? Don’t look down, you’re my sister, you’re my brother. And we need each other.
CHORUS Don’t look down on him who may not have all the things that society might say they need. Instead we oughta celebrate our diversity, make everyone feel like each other we need, we need.
You’re my sister, you’re my brother, we need each other, oh yea. We can all get along, listen to this song…Ohh, don’t look down.
