Paradise 9 are Gregg McKella on main vocals, guitar, glissando guitar, psychedelic clarinet and space FX's, Carl Sampson on drums/backing vocals, Neil Matthars on bass, and Tyrone Thomas (ex-Alternative TV) on lead guitar. Paradise 9 have been described as cutting edge, space-rock-stroke-punk-rock-stroke-space-dub-stroke-space-core. This can be heard on their last 4 track EP “Nothing For Tomorrow”. The EP was recorded at Liscombe Park Studios, mixed and engineered by Steve Rispin, at the end of 2008 and finished early 2009, and received extensive radio plays worldwide. They regularly feature guests' performances in their live sets, including Jaki Windmill (Whimwise/ex-Space Ritual) on djembe, Pete McDonald (Alabarma3 producer), Jeanette Murphy BV's, Keith Sutton (Whimwise keys), Kev Ellis on vx/fx (Bubbledubble/ex Dr Brown), Wayne Collyer on percussion (original P9 stixman) and Nik Nimbus (Here & Now) drums. The late great Judge Trev Thoms (Inner City Unit), who sadly passed away December 2010 also occasionally joined them on lead. Paradise 9 feel honoured to have JudgeTrev feature on their next forthcoming release, due out later this year.
Their music can be described as psychedelic, ambient, punk, space rock/space-core and have been described as "Hawkwind meets Joe Strummer" by reviewer, Abi Rhodes and as "Here & Now meets The Buzzcocks" from Lord Sealand Armstrong of Aurora.
