It's the title track from the album. A slow, reflective tune on the artistic process and all that it encompasses.
Music from the soul that defies categorization but then passionate songs usually do
Music defying categorization, soaring from the soul...

Story behind the song
The song is about the artistic process. The title of the tune came from a phone conversation I had with an art-teacher friend of mine. I asked her why she didn't teach little kids to make cave paintings like our early ancestors did. She said she didn't like the idea of kids running around with dye in their mouths spraying over their hands and stenciling God-Knows-What. As a result of that conversation I began thinking about describing the act of the early artists, spitting and sputtering through a reed, blowing the air from their lungs into their cave paintings; hence the title: Spit, Sputter, Blow.
I love this song!
Lyrics
Candle light
Fills my night
Cave damp air
I strain my sight
I picture all the world
in my mind's eye
Time to create
the sky
I fill my mouth with earth and soul
Spit, Sputter, Blow…
To create for eyes
that which can't be said
To touch a soul
through a soul that's bled
To share a pain, a joy, a love
To share the breath
from the One above
I fill my mouth with earth and soul,
Spit, Sputter, Blow…
Gaze upon this speckled granite
and tell me what you see
Can you perceive yourself
through experiencing me?
I place my hand
upon the wall
To leave my mark
on this hallowed hall
I fill my mouth with earth and soul
Spit, Sputter, Blow…
I fill my mouth with earth and soul
Spit, Sputter, Blow…
