Story behind the song
‘Cool Breeze On Camel’s Back’ was written and composed by Rohan Solomon This song is based on a story from a book of short stories, “Shadows Of Truth”, written by his elder brother Prashant Solomon. The story revolves around the famous Camel’s Back Road in Mussoorie. It’s about this guy who goes to mussoorie for a vacation. One day, as he’s walking towards the cemetery on camel’s back road, he sees somebody standing at the cemetery gates. On getting closer, he sees a pretty girl standing there. He goes up to her and both of them start talking. They soon become good friends and meet often and go for walks on the Mall Road or Camel’s Back Road. Before they know it, they fall deeply in love with each other. One day, while walking on Camel’s Back road, they decide to play a game of ‘Hide and seek’. It was the girl’s turn to hide and the guy was supposed to seek. The girl runs into the cemetery to hide and the guy goes inside the cemetery to look for her. After searching everywhere and looking around for a long while, he’s still unable to find her. Suddenly, he trips upon a stone and falls down. When he lifts up his head, he shrieks as he sees a tombstone with the girl’s name and her picture on it…………..so, basically, he had fallen in love with a ghost.
Lyrics
I was walking down that road. Not only beautiful, it was so old. So many people came and walked around there, whether summer or winter, they just don't care. Then I saw you there, you were walking and playing with your hair. Had to speak to you since you were standing right there. Chorus: Cool breeze on 'Camel's back' made me fall in love. Oh! yeah! You're love just kept me on track and never let me down. Cool breeze on 'Camel's back' Then I took you up to my estate. You said you had no problems to stay up late, yeah I thought we'd play a little hide and seek, yeah So you went and hid and I had to seek, yeah Then I tripped upon a little rock that was in the way Saw a tombstone with your picture and with your name Cool breeze on 'Camel's back' took my love away. Oh! yeah! I was in love with a ghost and the breeze was blowin me away Cool breeze on 'Camel's back'
