Story behind the song
This song is written about my wife. She kept saying look what I've got me. We play around with phrases about each other. I wrote the song about her. Ole Lee is a reference to me for rhyming purposes. The great big rock is a diamond ring and the long draped dress in the window pane is a wedding dress.
Lyrics
There's a blue-eyed girl standing by my side. She's wonderful to Lee. When people asks me who that is? I say, look what I've got me. There's a blond-haired girl sitting in my truck. She's beautiful to see. When someone asks me who that is? I say, look what I've got me. Look what I've got me. She's wonderful to ole Lee. One day I'm going to make that girl my wife. Look what I've got me. She's beautiful to see. I'm just saying.. Look what I've got me. There's a great big rock sitting in that case. It's behind lock and key. When people asks me whose that is? I say, look what I've got me. There's a long-draped dress in a window pane. It's anything but free. When someone asks me whose that is? I say, look what I've got me. Yeah, look what I've got me. She's wonderful to ole Lee. One day I'm going to make that girl my wife. Look what I've got me. She beautiful to see. I'm just saying... Look what I've got me. (Bridge and repeat chorus) End.
