Story behind the song
Jim Croce was my musical hero.I loved all of his music and most of all his "character" songs about people he met in his life and later wrote songs about.One of my favorites is "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown". I thought that it would be interesting to create a continuing saga so to speak about "Leroy Brown" by writing a song about his son (if he had one that is) and carry on the legacy of this #1 hit back in 1973 for Jim--hence came "Leroy Brown's Only Son"!!
