I completed this haunting melody yesterday... I am so fortunate to have been able to record a quick demo and I wanted to post it because it is a beautiful piece. Enjoy!

Story behind the song
I was considering a true story of Love, Loss and Loves’ Ultimate redemption when I composed this melody.
This song is for Alicia…
In the 1860’s a young man from Massachusetts traveled to the deep south, where he met a beautiful woman… Alicia. As their love unfolded they were married and made their home on the edge of the gathering storm. The young man was one among many in the first wave of enlistment to the new Confederate Army; eager for glory, adventure, and to prove his ardent love for Alicia, and her family’s way of life.
As the story goes, this young man was also one of the first to fall on the field of honor. The night before his departure, Alicia conceives a son who will be born into the ravages of a war torn country.
Knowing want for the first time in her life, Alicia sheltered her little boy. As they near starvation, she purchased one ticket to Massachusetts on a north bound train with the last of her savings, and then puts her 4 year old son on it, sending him “home” to be raised by his paternal grandmother. Exchanging her life for his redemption.
The story closes on this little man riding alone on the rail car north… much the way his dad arrived several years earlier… and Alicia’s Lament.
Love endures pain
Shadows and rain
Love’s never seeking it’s own…
Love hopes for reason
To hold on thru season… when even the hope is gone
Love will find the answer
Love will say the prayer
Love will be the light of your the darkest night.
Love will never falter
Love will never fail…
Step into the light of Love!
This song is dedicated to George… my friend, and mentor, in whose wife’s family tree this story occurs.
