This version is strictly instrumental, performed on acoustic violalin. The only modifications done during processing were trimming excess length and amplitude adjustments.
It's just me, folks. Me, my instrutments, and my omnipresent muse. Blues, jazz, rock, country - any mix which fits is what I do.
My music is an adventure of spirit - frequently, my freely-given gift to those I find myself with.
Story behind the song
I wrote the lyrics and composed the music for this song shortly after taking up violin in October, 2005. It's taken till now, until I could actually come close to performing it properly. (I consider it to be a very difficult piece.) I intend to eventually (who knows when?) produce a version w/ vocals & rhythm accompaniments, but for now I'm feeling good about presenting this version.

"SO FAR AWAY"

The wind, it howls outside
And covers up the sound of my little girl crying,
So far away.
So far away.
The moon, it floats up above
And doesn't understand why my little girl
Doesn't get loved,
So far away.
So far away.
I don't need a preacher, to tell me what's wrong.
I don't need a doctor, to hand me a gun.
I don't need a lawyer, to sell my child's soul.
There's only one thing that I need,
And, it won't come
While she's kept so far away.
So far away.
She was kidnapped in court, from the daddy who loves her -
In a home with a monster, who thinks she's a mother;
With a psychopath brought in to be a step-father...
She’s been battered and abused - and, the powers-that-be
All refuse to acknowledge her desperate need
While she's kept so far away. So far away...
Just to make sure she grows up without any father,
And to make sure her mother gets whatever she wants.
They will warp the foundations of society,
In the service of their self-centered power & greed.
And, they claim it’s the cost of social change –
That, to make a new omelette, you've got to break some eggs!
And, to make sure that nothing interferes with their plans,
They'll make sure she's kept so far away.
So far away.
The wind, it moans outside -
And, carries in the cold of a deep dark night,
So far away.
So far away.
The trees, they sag under snow -
And, can't comprehend why my little girl
Gets left all alone,
So far away.
So far away.
I don't need a preacher, to tell me what's wrong.
I don't need a doctor, to hand me a gun.
I don't need a lawyer, to sell my child's soul.
There's only one thing that I need,
And, it won't come
While she's kept so far away.
So far away.
