Story behind the song
Written nearly ten years ago, the idea behind this song is someone finally getting rid of a no-good partner, leaving them standing there with egg on their face. Vaguely inspired by long ago personal experiences. I like the line about "you remember me while I forget you". Heh heh.
Lyrics
I see every lie that you’ve thrown at me every little fib told deceitfully You thought you had this fool figured out by now but the only one who’s fooled is the one who’s hurting now Don’t say now you understand you hurt me so there’s no pain involved to let you go I guess it’s true this time in an instant way the things you do come back again to you someday And when your mind goes back some distant summer day Will it all have been worthwhile to throw it all, throw it all away Now your house of cards has fallen down your ship won’t be in cause it ran aground How could you think your lies were justified or should I not have seen what you would not confide And when you think of me you hope I’ll do the same But you’ll be forgotten then the time the place, your voice your face, your name You thought I should hang on every word you said guess who’s just been hung out to dry instead Tell me what you think I want to hear you’ve done so well so far but so long now my dear
