Story behind the song
The song uses a lot of Catholic symbolism, but it is actually an attack on consumer culture (which I believe is our new religion). The tyrant is a shadowing figure - also personified as a stereotypical corporate fat cat.
Lyrics
The Tyrant.
He slides his fat body up to the podium
When he belches he blacks out the sun
He’s got an army of dogs on a leash.
They’re everywhere and everything is within his reach
They indulge in slavery
‘Cause they are content
They don’t need no other
They don’t need a thing
They line up for the holy host as if it was candy.
Billboards and commercials are plastered with its sacred name
And they all feed as one big family
At least those who are willing to pay
“There’s a cancer among us!,” he screams
Disgust swells in his pale blue veins
He recites the words of the blessed wretched whore:
“We don’t need to fight. We just ignore”
I don’t want this slavery
‘Cause I’m not content
They don’t need no other
But I want something more
