Trash-pop, guitar rock and melodic miscellany.
Not so much a band as a bloke with a guitar and a laptop, The Smivets deliver a genre-bending blend of pop, rock, punk, prog and many other monosyllables.

Story behind the song
This is basically 2 tunes that I've always wanted to do versions of, bodged together Smivet style - Thomas Arne's famous "Rule Brittannia" and the Trumpet Hornpipe, better known as the theme from "Captain Pugwash". I can't take credit for the original midi work on Rule Brittannia - this is from Frank Petersohn's fantastic collection of midi files. I tweaked it a little, orchestrated it and added percussion. But I did play the accordian. Which was fun. You may make of this combination of tunes (jingoistic Brit anthem and pirate theme tune) what you will.

:D great idea, and KILLER guitar tone! loved the Guess Who "Shakin' all Over" outre ;) ROMP ON!! :D
Seth, this is ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT! You have combined the best of the best of English humor and historic music into one incredibly produced song with distorted guitar tongue in cheek (how did you play so well with your tongue in your cheek?) Ha Ha/Lol - but your American cousins do so love your Seth/Monty type of humor! Bravo to you for this song, and thank you for the dl to our JBBQ New Songs Music Player. Bob

Had me chortling the first time, and still does :) Superb guitar work, and no pirate night would have been complete without Pugwash aboard ;) Nice one
