Trash-pop, guitar rock and melodic miscellany.
Not so much a band as a bloke with a guitar and a laptop, The Smivets deliver a genre-bending blend of pop, rock, punk, prog and many other monosyllables.

Story behind the song
Watching your wedding video, re-living the emotions of the day and finding you still feel the same today. Pah, soppy stuff. Not me of course I don't think video was invented. This tune was written especially for the CBC ballad challenge July 2011. Big thanks to Jude once more for setting an intriguing challenge - unfamiliar musical territory and fantastic fun for that very reason.
Lyrics
Look, there we are - I'm not scared, I don't think that's scared - I'm just amazed. I can't believe that it's really real. I'm thinking I'll wake up any moment And find out it's a dream, A wonderful dream. And, oh! Look at you! Smiling in your white dress, Beautiful beyond words, Bright like the promise of Heaven. And it's all played out in slow motion Each frame slowed to a crawl. Don't we look good Those years ago? Seems like it's all Played out in slow motion. It's all there: Confetti frozen in the air. A picture embroidered in gossamer That the slightest breeze would tear. And it's all played out in slow motion Each frame slowed to a crawl. Don't we look good Those years ago? Seems like it's all Played out in slow motion again. So here we are, We're not old We don't say we're old We're just ... weathered - All the rough edges worn smooth, Worn into each others' shapes. But when I look at you You're still that girl in the video With your hands around my heart Holding* me. And it's all played out in slow motion Each frame slowed to a crawl. Don't we look good Those years ago? Seems like it's all Played out in slow motion again. Let's slow down Now the days are few Take the foot off the gas And just pass the time with you. * Hold (v) 1. to keep captive 2. to support.

Being a vocal kind of guy, I gravitate heavily on good vox and lyrics. This tune and many more of yours are the very ones I relate well too! J.D.

Certainly a great song, but the message in the lyrics is what really shines the brightest to me. Great job!

Another 3/4 ballad in lowbeat. You've done good here. I've made many songs in 6/8 and 4/4 and they tend to be somehow a LOT easier to get a natural flow. 3/4 get easily "edged" somehow. Great job ! Wonderful vocal and guitarplaying :)

I think you have just illustrated that you can nail every genre there is. Your songs are always a surprise - we never know what you are going to do next, but every one is expertly crafted and performed. Great job.

I read the lyrics first and tried to imagine what the track would sound like. I was wrong - - it was much better than what I had expected to hear. :D You have a knack for capturing the 'feel' right down to the vocal timbre that you obviously have great control over. Very well done indeed!
