This "Talkin' Blues" was inspired by a thread on a song writing board. The thread's original poster postulated that lyrics aren't important for a hit song and in fact may get in the way.

Talkin’ Lyrics Don’t Matter Blues
Lyrics don’t matter, or so I’ve heard,
Just drive that beat and forget the words.
No one pays attention anyway
So it doesn’t matter what you say.
It seems I’ve been doing it all wrong
And don’t know how to write a song;
The words don’t have to mean a thing,
You just open your mouth and sing.
Chorus:
Slippity slop crippity creep,
Telephone and desert sleep,
Flagellate all ‘round about,
Tickle my nose upside down.
I’ll get an electric geetar and learn to play
In a hard and loud but tuneful way;
There’ll be a word or two but you won’t hear it
‘Cause it don’t matter about the flippin’ lyrics.
Now my words may not be the best
But I can still be a great suckcess;
I just have to turn off my brain
And write myself a catchy refrain.
Chorus
I could go on talkin’ all day
‘Cause I really got nothin’ to say;
And you could probably listen all year
‘Cause there really ain’t nothin’ to hear.
Now I think I’ve made myself crystal clear
To all those so inclined to hear;
Just sit back and turn the volume up loud,
While the poignant chorus comes around.
