Trash-pop, guitar rock and melodic miscellany.
Not so much a band as a bloke with a guitar and a laptop, The Smivets deliver a genre-bending blend of pop, rock, punk, prog and many other monosyllables.

Story behind the song
More maritime metaphor, ironic from a bloke who gets seasick on a lilo. Created for the Coconut Blues Club Lullaby challenge February 2012. I hate you, Jude Law. Just when I'd resigned myself to not doing a song for this challenge I find this odd tune itching at the back of my brain. It's no use trying to ignore it - resistance is futile. In reality I didn't have enough time do do it properly, and I'd probably like to orchestrate it to death, but anyway here it is. Stay awake at the back...
Lyrics
Proud clinker boat, ride On the westering tide With the waves gently rising and falling On past venturous lands Til she gracefully stands Within sight of the lanterns of morning Haul away on the oars oh Hail the heels of tomorrow Leaving all dreams of sorrow behind Far behind Through the vale of the night Only stars giving light Make no sound and you might hear me calling I will carry you home Safe through billows and foam To the welcoming laterns of morning Haul away on the oars oh Hail the heels of tomorrow Leaving all dreams of sorrow behind Far behind From the laterns of morning

Nice job on this one Steve...strong vox, solid piano, and really nice lyrics. I absolutely loved the title. Glad you jumped in at the last minute and shared his one. Pine

Sweet lullaby with some celtic flavour, always a pleasant surprise to listen anything done by the high talented Smivets.
This Lullaby is so heartfelt, Seth...your vocal, with the immediacy of the great backing, is just perfect. An excellent song in all musical aspects.

Some people speak of reading 'tween the lines' and I've been listening to this 'tween the notes' and the sounds and arrangement are just grand in all ways!

Great work with the lyrics, love the melodic keys. Works very well without a huge production job. The sign of a great song when it can sound so great stripped down to the melody and an accompanying single instrument. Excellent stuff.
