Story behind the song
I'm a military spouse. Wanted to write a song about what the military is all about. Hubby is retired military.
Lyrics
Sacrifice
V1: This good ole boy an' me,
At the bar – down at the “V”,
Both minding our beers,
Talkin' 'bout our lost years,
Acts o' war - caught in cross hairs,
Lotto winners and millionaires.
C: Talked about our falls from grace,
Younger kids – most lost in space,
Country born and raised,
Proud of traditional ways,
Before we went our separate ways,
We heard someone say,
“Things in life come with a price,
Thanks for your sacrifice.”
V2: We sat there – dead silence,
Reliving the violence,
We clicked from the start,
30 years - half a world apart,
Different memories but still the same,
No longer a badge of shame.
B: Before we went our separate ways,
We heard someone say,
“Things in life come with a price,
Thanks for your sacrifice.”
V3: Jungle - desert – wet or dry,
Piercing sounds – guns light the sky,
The names may change,
But the outcome stays the same,
Proud to serve – one and all,
Next generation akes the fall
C: Talked about our falls from grace,
Younger kids – most lost in space,
Country born and raised,
Proud of traditional ways,
Before we went our different ways,
We heard someone say,
“Things in life come with a price,
Thanks for your sacrifice.”
“Things in life come with a price,
Thanks for your sacrifice.”
