Story behind the song
I wrote this song in about an hour on a Wechter Nashville. The inspiration for this was a relationship with an old friend that briefly turned romantic and somewhat serious before the friend suddenly decided to go back to being casual and closer to platonic while still acting flirtatious and sexual. The lyrics describe the frustration and confusion at all of the sudden, unexpected changes to the relationship brought about by the other person.
Lyrics
Verse 1 All I want is to find you again The way you used to be crazy for me All I need is to understand the changes What changed in you Chorus 1 Because now You’re content to be alone And now you’re just fine with casual But how am I supposed to leave you all alone When just a little while ago You used to miss me more Verse 2 You woke me up today just like you used to Before this great big void of ours And I, I don’t know what to think or say Just that I’m crazy for ever thinking you’d be mine Chorus 2 When I cared for you And know you thought me charming And I tried to hit the brakes When you would run ahead And I’m left sitting here long after Wondering what happened in your heart Because you used to miss me more Bridge And I know your heart has changed And I know I’ll never quite be the same After the experience of you But it’s so hard to put these thoughts of you away Even when I know you mean what you say About not wanting anyone in your life But I also think Verse 3 Sometimes you still want to Make a go of this thing between you and I And sometimes you seem to forget And dream of our future life Chorus 3 But it’s all right if you want to hang with me To pass some time As long as As long as you don’t mind That now I miss you more
