Soloist. Songwriter/singer. ASCAP member. A NICE WITNESS FOR CHRIST There is an extensive interview of me done by Scott Crawford, at . Do not let the site name alarm you. It is an "adult-themed music and entertainment" site. It is not a porn site, and you will not get tagged for spam if you go there. Scott is a journalist of integrity, who asked pertinent and penetrating questions, then printed my answers verbatim. Both God and His son received much attention in the interview. REVIEWS: "Fancy keyboard playing is the backdrop for this positive and upbeat collection. Hackley's vocals are reminiscent of Burl Ives." Review by Brent Castillo, The Wichita Eagle, March 5, 2005. "world's wimpiest Christian rocker". Brother Russell Podcast; : INFLUENCES (a very lengthy list, ending with...) "and of course, Richard Hackley." "Yet the songs on the Worst of the Worst can be compelling in their awfulness. Songs like Richard Hackley's rabble-rousing, hackles-raising spiritual God's Backhand ("We're not talking about tennis or Ping-Pong!") "; "Richard Hackley... HUGE musical influence. And a real bad mofo live.";

Story behind the song
The risk that God takes with His generosity.
Lyrics
(v.1) Israel was getting close, close to the promised land. Close to something they’d never had ... abundance on every hand. God told them it was a land of plenty & they should never lack or fear. He also warned them of a danger that might slip up on them from the rear. He said, “Once you’re there and all is well, once your wealth has grown, “You might forget Me & start to think that you’ve done this all on your own.” Why would God risk that? Risk losing Israel to material sin? Why would He bless them so much that they might stop depending on Him? (c) Because God is light. He has no darkness. He doesn’t fluctuate to and fro. What God promised He’ll do consistently It’s our choice how far we go. There is no ceiling on God’s blessing It’s a continuous positive force As long as we will keep remembering that He is the source. (v.2) When you go out into the work force go out and find a job, You find employers don’t operate the same way as does God. They’ll pay enough to keep you sacking groceries or digging their ditch. But they don’t want you running off because they paid you too much and made you rich. If those employers ever spoke to God they might be tempted to say, “Lord, you bless your people too much. That’s why they drift away.” Why does God risk that? Risk losing us to material sin? Why would He bless us so much that we might stop depending on Him? (c)
