I wrote this song for the opening title sequence of a short film that I was writing and recording the soundtrack for. The director wanted a downhearted rock/pop type song. In the opening scene where this music is played, the overworked and disrespected main character is driving home from work. The music was supposed to capture his mood.

Lyrics
have you tried saying that more slowly
don't say anything at all
how can you accumulate them so blindly
with your pretending condescending soul
and to think they laughed at you
and to think they often stared (seems so long ago)
and to think you cried alone
just for one insulting tone oh anything (anything)
and it rains
ooo it rains
and it rains
ooo it rains
have you tried pretending your not lonely
don't say no one ever calls
how can I make our time seem more kindly
with your pretending condescending soul
and to think they laughed at you
and to think they often stared (seems so long ago)
and to think you cried alone
just for one insulting tone oh anything (anything)
(and it rains)
and the rain it lashes down
ice melts with that peculiar sound
(ooo it rains)
it's time to unfold those shining eyes
and tell the stories of old
(and it rains)
whats gone before has that familiar hold
and makes you realize
you were always meant to be alone...
