Story behind the song
song about a man that left the bright lights for the simple country life.
Lyrics
(1st Verse) He wears bib overalls and old brogans. Hes what he seems hes an old farmhand. He loves the country life and living one with the land. He makes a good living for his family with calloused hands. (2nd Verse) Hes got a wife that can cook, boys that can eat, an old Farmall tractor and his folks are sweet. He needs to brushhog a patch of weeds out in the pasture. And when the boys come home from school, theres always lots of laughter. (Chorus) Now Billy Ray Ballard is a country man, he used to play lead guitar in a country band. But he got tired of playing one night stands, its the reason that he bought this land. But on occasion when his wife and kids are gone, Billy Ray Ballard is all alone. Hes been known to slip off down in the basement, and play guitar for his own amazement. (Guitar Interlude) (Repeat Chorus) (Repeat 1st Verse) He makes a good living for his family with calloused hands.
