Noodling around in the Key of E some lyrics popped into my head. They turned into this song by mext morning. Single take of each track Guitar (Hagstrom) / Vocal / Slide (PRS SE in Open D) so as "live" as you can get with a multi-track recording.

Story behind the song
Playing the Hagstrom one night and enjoying the combination of the new SH55 pickups, the Palmer Overdrive, and the VibroChamp XD on a clean voicing. Just noodling around and ended up playing around in the key of E which I tend to do if I'm just playing the guitar on its own. The vocals came from the frustrations of viruses and chest infections.
Lyrics
My muscles they is aching I'm really feelin' older The seasons ain't so different So why am I feeling colder? It's just the Age Old Blues A story old as time Got me thinkin' sad, sad thoughts 'bout this life of mine. I'm not so clear of thinking Don't remember to forget But though my mind is slowin' down It ain't gone dormant yet It's just the Age Old Blues A story old as time It just ain't as good no more But I'll deal with that just fine I'm not sleepin' very well no more Can't sleep right through the night I need to go to the physio get my muscles put back right It's just the Age Old Blues A story old as time And although my spirits willin' My body ain't doin' so fine My muscles they is aching I'm really feelin' older The seasons ain't so different So why am I feeling colder? It's just the Age Old Blues A story old as time Got me thinkin' sad, sad thoughts 'bout this life of mine. Mark Patterson September 2012
