red spiders are stalking me.
they are more scary than the birds
so i am writing these words
about all these scary spiders and birds.

red spiders on the march the seagulls use too much starch
when they bite me it leaves marks
when they land on the power lines
they have meetings to decide who is going to eat me.
but the red spiders come in the dark
you can hear them when they bark.
big as base balls candy apple red pinchers sticking out of their heads
they come for me when i am in bed
taking bites while i sleep
during the day the birds will flap
yelling and squawking none of them are talking
the crow boy's listen as the chitter chitter birds tell the tale
out in the fog the sirens wail red spiders on a mission
trying to make the transition
from shoplifting at the seven eleven
to mastermind a master plan
flooding the alley with quicksand
a vast territory to expand to the next lamp post and beyond
but the seagulls wont respond.
the red spiders march on down main street
trying hard to find me
i took refuge in the seaweed under the tracks
with the zippies flat on it's backs.
un noticed so far hidden from the neon blue of the stars
among the broken dreams behind skid row bars
unattainable goals might as well be on mars
lost to the spiders and crow boy's downtown
