Story behind the song
I wrote this in Berkeley between late December 2007 and early January 2008. Of all my songs, it's the most personally cathartic in that I felt so much better after writing it. Written after my father died of cancer.
Lyrics
TIME BEGINS TO END
Music and lyrics by Paul Iorio
Copyright 2008
These things seem to come in twos and threes
You're losing weight and then you're on your knees
It's your time to die
Wave your arms goodbye and tell me
Time begins to end in just a few
You can't understand the lassitude
You wanna put it off a week or two
You can make me cry
Wave your arms and fly away
Time begins to end in just a few
But I warned you
As I warned you now
If I need you
Then I'll miss you and how
Time begins to end in just a few
You're sleeping at the wake, you used to muse
You'd rather have a warmer altitude
It's your time to die
Wave your arms and fly away
Time begins to end in just a few
But I warned you
As I warn you now
If I need you
Then I'll miss you and how
Time begins to end in just a few
Time begins to end in just a few
Time begins to end in just a few
