Story behind the song
Like most people living in NY, I spent much of last week on "Sandy" alert. Fortunately for folks in my area, other than some crazy waves coming off Lake Ontario and some downed trees and power lines, we were pretty much unscathed. For those who were in the direct path, our thoughts and prayers go out to them. The personification of "Sandy" in this song is not intended to be disrespectful to anyone directly effected by this tragedy. It's just a song inspired by recent events.
Lyrics
Sandy (Fire In Her Eyes)
Tom Wilson 2012
By the time the storm hit home
And Sandy said her final goodbyes
In a blink of an eye
She'd taken everything
I should have seen it coming when
Everyone saw it but me
Tell me how could it be?
I played the fool again
I guess I lived and learned the hard way this morn
Don't underestimate an angry woman’s scorn
Chorus:
The winds blew wild
The rain fell hard
There was a fire in her eyes
And I saw stars
It came so loud
She moved so fast
There was a fire in her eyes
I can't get past
She's moved on to another town
But thoughts of her forever will stay
I was just in her way
And now she's moving on
I'm picking up the pieces slow
I'm stunned but I'm glad I'm alive
Next time I'll drive
As far as I can go
I guess I lived and learned the hard way this morn
Don't underestimate an angry woman’s scorn
Chorus:
The winds blew wild
The rain fell hard
There was a fire in her eyes
And I saw stars
It came so loud
She moved so fast
There was a fire in her eyes
I can't get past
