Singer-songwriter, arranger and producer: acoustic contemporary folk but ranging into rock/blues/country/jazz/humour...all very eclectic, I'm afraid!
Martin Stirrup Singer/songwriter An old folkie who got back into it... These days I sing and play guitar(s) and other stringed instruments, then score and orchestrate where appropriate. My taste becomes increasingly eclectic ranging from finger-picked folk through country to soft rock mixed in with a few more alternative and eccentric numbers, including the odd novelty foxtrot...

Story behind the song
The poor old Ambassador finally gave up the ghost... ho hum, but all things must pass. And you can tell from Mr Kumar's grin that he's a happier man.... with his white Toyota! Another silly homage to our Indian transportation.
Lyrics
(D A D)2 (G D )2 D G A F C D My good friend Mr Kumar, he’s got a brand new toy A white Toyota you can betcha it’s his pride and joy He loves the way it corners , way it holds the road He says it more than holds a candle to that famous car of old Well I think he’s just fallen in love with his shiny new motor – it’s his white Toyota You know his old ambassador was well past its prime He had to have it towed back by a tractor when it broke down that very last time I’ve watched him nurse it up a mountain with the heater on He says he tired of fixing fanbelts and he’s glad it’s gone So if it makes for an easier life I guess it’s got his vote-a - it’s his white Toyota (G Gm D)2 G Bm A A7 But it seems a little funny, like losing an old friend I always thought we would stick it out to the bitter end You know I loved that old car it really had some class But I won’t let it upset me – all things must pass… instrumental break You know those Uttrachand roads look pretty scary to me With the mountainside dropping away at 90 degrees G Gm D)2 But with the sun shining off that Himalayan snow I’m beginning to think- hey! - it’s the way to go So of riding in classic style I guess I’ve had my quota – now it’s a white Toyota Yes I’m sitting here thinking that things aren’t all that bad With my seatbelt on it’s the safest ride I’ve had Now you may call me a turncoat – a snake in the grass But don’t be so harsh now – all things must pass! Now do you think it makes me sad – not one iota – I love my white Toyota Give me my white Toyota Mmm my white Toyota
