Trash-pop, guitar rock and melodic miscellany.
Not so much a band as a bloke with a guitar and a laptop, The Smivets deliver a genre-bending blend of pop, rock, punk, prog and many other monosyllables.

Story behind the song
For those not familiar with it, Northumberland is the most northerly county in England, a wild and beautiful place and nothing whatsoever to do with this song. This is one of those songs where the music says more than the words - from what I can tell I think it's mostly about loss. Dedicated to Sid the Westie, Aug 2001 - 19 Jan 2013.
Lyrics
Breathe slow Drink in life Drink deep Hold it in Weep no more Touch the earth You're still here Still here Northumberland Find me now Last barrier fallen down I tried so hard to reach you But I couldn't work out how To make the journey Only closure would allow Let it hurt Embrace the pain Don't cry out Live yet Northumberland Find me now Last barrier fallen down I tried so hard to reach you But I couldn't work out how To make the journey Only closure would allow Northumberland Ever stands From the fells and forests To the storm blown sands I was looking for the answer Which no-one understands I just didn't know I had it in my hands Northumberland Find me now Last barrier fallen down I tried so hard to reach you But I couldn't work out how To gain the closure That the journey would allow

A lovely moving piece reflecting moods in so many ways, captured in a dynamic arrangement. Poor Sid, not easy times at all. All the best G

Epic in scope and full of many pieces with a huge variety of instruments. You added huge emotional lyrics and what you have is a great all out tune! One of S.C.'s best!!
