Story behind the song
This will get a little complicated, but here goes; Skip and I were playing in "Lost Reality", however I had always recorded solo as "KODA JYNX". I had almost completed a full album doing my "one man band thing" but the last song I wrote for it was called HELLBOUND TRAIN (which I also named the album) It was a wicked uptempo blues rock song. It needed a real thumping "boogie" bass track, I couldn't do it. I asked Skip if he would lay it down for me, he did and it took the song to a whole 'nother level. We decided to start writing togther (with in 6 months we had a full album), mean while our band "LOST REALITY" had broken up, so we decided to record under the "LOST REALITY" name. This album also came to be called "HELLBOUND TRAIN". We found out that LOST REALITY was a more common name than we knew, so we switched to my old band/solo name.
So there will be two different KODA JYNX's and 2 different HELLBOUND TRAIN albums with the only thing in common between the two, being the song HELLBOUND TRAIN itself. AS to this song "DIRTY GIRL" it was THEE first song we wrote together. obvious RAY PARKER JR. influenced, but all original. not only did Skip sing it, but I got him to play a wicked bass solo on it too, even better he played the lead guitar on the outro, he has a very different feel for the guitar than anyone I've met. and it is cooler than hell.
