Soloist. Songwriter/singer. ASCAP member. A NICE WITNESS FOR CHRIST There is an extensive interview of me done by Scott Crawford, at . Do not let the site name alarm you. It is an "adult-themed music and entertainment" site. It is not a porn site, and you will not get tagged for spam if you go there. Scott is a journalist of integrity, who asked pertinent and penetrating questions, then printed my answers verbatim. Both God and His son received much attention in the interview. REVIEWS: "Fancy keyboard playing is the backdrop for this positive and upbeat collection. Hackley's vocals are reminiscent of Burl Ives." Review by Brent Castillo, The Wichita Eagle, March 5, 2005. "world's wimpiest Christian rocker". Brother Russell Podcast; : INFLUENCES (a very lengthy list, ending with...) "and of course, Richard Hackley." "Yet the songs on the Worst of the Worst can be compelling in their awfulness. Songs like Richard Hackley's rabble-rousing, hackles-raising spiritual God's Backhand ("We're not talking about tennis or Ping-Pong!") "; "Richard Hackley... HUGE musical influence. And a real bad mofo live.";

Story behind the song
The grocery chain that employed me needed someone to fill an opening at a bigger store. It was in my area of training. Life was much calmer and slower in the small stores. But it was also more boring. So I looked at the big store as a chance for growth, both in job knowledge and in counting on God's help.
Lyrics
(v.1) My job was just too easy I could do it on my own. I knew that I was not growing Just drifting in a comfort zone. So when the offer came along To do my job in a bigger store I felt it was God giving me a chance To grow a whole lot more. (c) Now I’m in over my head, and I’m loving it. I’m in over my head, and I’m loving it. Biting off more than I could chew Surprised even me, how much I grew. When there was more than I could do God kept proving, He will come through. I’m in over my head, and I’m loving it. (v.2) I’m thinking as I drive to work, As I walk through the front door, “There was too much to do yesterday, And today there will be even more. But I still firmly believe I was right to take this job. No matter how big the giant gets, He will never outgrow God. (c) Now I’m in over my head, and I’m loving it. I’m in over my head, and I’m loving it. Everyday God dazzles me With His high productivity. He takes impossible and makes it seem Like nothing more than daily routine. I’m in over my head, and I’m loving it.
