The Ring
I saw her in a dive on Main
In a darkened corner
She looked to be a tear from rain
Who fell to be a loner
A shadow that hides her face
Soon lit up by a match glow
The strike was soft but i could trace
The outline of her sorrow
She began to fumble with her ring
Then tossed it on the table
I heard her curse the lies that sting
That made her heart disabled
Betrayed in love by love itself
Seems a bit ironic
Now her soul is a ghostly delf
With sadness for a sidekick
I dare not delve among her dreams
That fell from the heavens
I kept my distance for she made it seem
No man would be forgiven
And her misery intensifies
At the stroke of every hour
I watch her as she slowly dies
Like a thirsty dessert flower
Last call would draw blood
As she gathers up her things
Grabbed her coat and put on her gloves
But left behind that golden ring
She stormed out full of wrath
No dawn could ever stop it
I walked on over to where she sat
And slipped that ring inside my pocket
